Ganguly said that if the IPL is not held this year, it could result in a loss of Rs 4000 crore to the board.

 

The IPL was to be played from March 29,After the first phase lockdown in India, it was postponed until 15 April.

 

IPL was postponed indefinitely during the second phase lockdown.

 

In an interview on Mid-Day, Ganguly said,

 

“We have to see our financial circumstances, we have to see how much money we have and we will have to decide accordingly.

 

If the IPL is not organized, then we will lose about Rs 4000 crore, which is a big loss.

 

Former Team India captain Sourav Ganguly also pointed out that if the IPL did not happen this year, the board will also have to think about pay-cuts.

 

He said, “If IPL happens then we will not have to think about pay-cut, we will handle things.”

BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal has also said that if IPL does not happen this year, then BCCI may have to bear a loss of Rs 4000 crore.
