India Squad For T20 World Cup 2024: Possible Selection Criteria

India has announced its 15-player squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, with Rohit Sharma leading the team’s charge to victory. The selection procedure drew a lot of interest, especially because the wicketkeeper position was so important.

After careful consideration, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to give Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson a place in the India Squad for T20 Wolrd Cup especially considering their wicket keeping abilities and current good form with the bat also.

Shivam Dube’s strong IPL performance won him a spot in the India of squad of World Cup, following his appearance in the last T20I series against Afghanistan. India’s spinners include Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal, while Jasprit Bumrah leads the pace battery, which includes Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and vice-captain Hardik Pandya.

The batting order includes obvious options such as Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav, as well as skipper Rohit Sharma. Reserves include Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed and Avesh Khan.

Rohit Sharma(c) – Rohit Sharma’s choice as captain of the Indian team for the forthcoming T20 World Cup comes as no surprise, given his outstanding performance in the recently concluded ODI World Cup.

Rohit is India’s most experienced player in the T20 World Cup, having played in all previous editions. With 963 runs scored in 36 innings throughout World Cup campaigns, at an amazing average of 34.4, his batting ability on the big stage makes him a formidable force. 

Yashasvi Jaiswal – Yashasvi Jaiswal’s outstanding performances for India over the past year have earned him a position in the Indian 2024 T20 World Cup Squad. This will be his first appearance in a World Cup tournament.

Kuldeep Yadav – Kuldeep Yadav has a vital role in the Indian team, taking wickets and controlling the run pace during the middle overs in T20 matches. While Yadav has yet to make his World Cup debut, his previous performances demonstrate his talent.

He has taken 15 wickets in his last ten T20I outings over the past year, demonstrating his effectiveness. Interestingly, Kuldeep Yadav has maintained a remarkable economy rate at 6.35.

Shivam Dube – Shivam Dube’s outstanding form makes him an invaluable asset to the Indian Squad in the upcoming T20 World Cup. His ability to strike sixes and create momentum in the middle overs strengthens the batting lineup.

Axar Patel – Axar Patel emerges as a versatile asset for the Indian team, contributing in every aspect of the game. Over the last year, Patel showed his versatility by scoring 190 runs and taking 15 wickets in 14 innings.

Mohammed Siraj – Mohammed Siraj contributes to India’s pace assault with his ability to produce speed and bounce.
