Future of T20 World Cup and IPL T20 will be decided on Wednesday by ICC & BCCI

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is expected to address the future deadlock of this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia at a meeting of board members on Wednesday.

It may also be announced to start the nomination process for the next chairman in this meeting.

Future Of World T20 will be decided:

Board members can take a tough decision on the T20 World Cup to be held in Australia at this time, which is clouded by the Covid-19 epidemic.

In such a situation, will the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) agree to host Cricket Australia in 2022 instead of 2021.

In response to this question, BCCI treasurer Arun Dhumal told Bhasa to first let the ICC decide what they intend for this year’s World T20.

No formal announcement has been made regarding this year’s tournament yet.

A senior ICC board official said on the condition of confidentiality that India will either host the 2021 tournament as per the pre-determined schedule and it will be held in Australia in 2022, or vice versa.

In any case, this decision has to be made keeping in mind the bilateral series. Another aspect is the broadcaster Star India which has also invested in IPL and ICC competitions.

The officials said that Star is also a stakeholder and their opinion will also matter.

There are also speculations that the Indian Premier League may be held in October-November if the T20 World Cup is postponed or canceled.

Announcement on ICC’s Next Chairman:

Another important aspect will be whether the ICC’s outgoing chairman Shashank Manohar and the board will formally announce the nomination process for his successor.

There are many contenders for this post. A month ago, Colin Graves of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) seemed to be the unanimous choice and still he is the main contender.

Now names of BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Pakistan Cricket Board’s Ehsaan Mani are also being fielded for the post.

Which has made the matter interesting. The BCCI, however, has not yet made a formal decision to make Ganguly a candidate.

Dhumal said what is the hurry. They first declare the election process then there will be a time limit for this. We will decide at the right time.

Another issue relates to tax exemption for the 2021 T20 World Cup to be held in India.

Harbhajan Singh released poster of his Tamil film named ‘Friendship’

The BCCI is already fighting a battle over taxes related to the T20 World Cup played in 2016 in India.

The issue of $ 273 million payable for this is still under the dispute resolution committee.

As far as the ICC is concerned, it believes that the BCCI has not shown any commitment to tax exemption, which is not possible without the approval of the Central Government.

The BCCI has asked to give some time due to the lockdown due to Covid-19.
