IPL may be organized in UAE this year, board secretary general gave hints

The IPL is expected to be organized in UAE which was postponed indefinitely due to Coronavirus Outbreak.

 

There are reports that the BCCI may organize the IPL if the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia is postponed.

 

The news is also that the tournament can be held abroad and for this the Emirates Cricket Board has confirmed it..

 

If India decides to do IPL abroad due to Coronavirus this year, UAE has expressed its desire to host it.

 

The 13th season of IPL was scheduled to begin in late March but was postponed indefinitely due to Coronavirus.

 

There is speculation that the BCCI may host it in October if the T20 World Cup is not held in Australia.

 

UAE Cricket Board has offered to host the IPL in front of the BCCI.

 

Board General Secretary Mubashshir Usmani said that in the past the Emirates Cricket Board has successfully hosted the IPL. We have also hosted bilateral and multinational cricket tournaments before.

 

He said that we have proposed to both England and India. We would be happy if either board accepts it.

 

Earlier Sri Lanka Cricket Board also showed interest in hosting the IPL.

 

The ICC will take a decision on the T20 World Cup in a board meeting on June 10, only after which the picture of the IPL event will be clear.

 

UAE has hosted IPL in 2014

 

The first leg of the seventh season of the tournament was held in the UAE.

 

The Indian Premier League, played in 2014, was held in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi between 16 April and 30 April due to the Lok Sabha elections.
