316 cricket players from 14 different countries were auctioned off on Monday at the Cape Town International Convention Center in preparation for the Inaugural season of SA20

Six teams will compete in the South Africa 20 League: the Sunrisers Eastern Cape, Paarl Royals, MI Cape Town, Durban's Super Giants, Pretoria Capitals and Joburg Super Kings.

The six franchise teams had a pay budget of R34 million (more than Rs 15 crore) to fill out their 17-member squads Richard Madley, a well-known IPL auctioneer, conducted this auction.

At the inaugural SA20 player auction held in Cape Town, Tristan Stubbs broke the bank. The SEC signed him for a mind-blowing Rand 9.2 million (about USD 520,000).

Other Expensive Players

Dean Elgar, South Africa's Test captain, and Temba Bavuma, its T20I captain, weren't purchased during the auction which were the biggest surprises.
