Longest Streak as No.1 T20I Batsmen according to the ICC T20I rankings

There are plenty of batsmen who have found different ways to be consistent in T20I cricket and hence that reflects in the rankings as well as they made longest streaks as No.1 T20I Batsmen. 

T20I internationals started for the first time back in 2005 with the Australia-New Zealand series in the first-ever game and the format has just got better year after year. As, now it can be stated that T20 Format have made a new revolution in the way cricket is played.

Since it’s beginning, there have been many batsmen who ruled this shortest format of the game. T20s are the slam-bang version of cricket and you hardly expect anyone to be very consistent but however, there are batsmen who have found ways to be consistent in this format of cricket and that reflects in their rankings as well.

Let’s take a look back at five batsmen with the longest streak as No.1 T20I Batsmen:

5.Virat Kohli (From 2014 to 2017)

Virat Kohli, the current skipper of Indian Cricket Team is the only batsman in the history of cricket to average more than 50 across all formats of the game. He is a conventional batsmen but still finds a way to score consistently in the shortest format as well. In fact, he is also the only batsman to win two Man of the Tournament awards in the World T20 competition.

In those two World T20s (2014 and 2016), Kohli almost took India to the final and Semi-final in those two World T20s (2014 and 2016). He scored much of the runs outside the World T20s as well as It was in 2014 when Virat ascended to the top of the ICC T20I rankings. However, he lost out to Aaron Finch in 2015 but regained it back in 2016 where he had Bradman-esquire numbers.

Virat is currently placed at 9th position in the ICC T20I rankings with 673 points as his performance has dropped down in last one year but still he is having an excellent average of 50.8 scoring 2794 runs in 82 T20I matches.
