2.Alex Hales (From 2013 to 2014)

Alex Hales made his T20I debut for England in 2011 and scored an unbeaten 62 runs in his second match. It was in 2012 when he really got a long rope and established himself as England’s T20 opener. Hales scored 343 runs in 10 innings at an average of 38.1 in 2012 and 247 runs at an average of 49.40 in 2013 and that’s when he rose to the top of the T20I ICC rankings.

The opener continued to impress throughout 2014 as well by scoring 397 runs at an average 36.1 in 12 matches. He was one of England’s key members in the World T20 in 2014. However, he soon lost his No. 1 ranking to Virat Kohli who was outstanding in T20 cricket during that period.
