ICC Women's T20 World Cup postponed for one year, tournament to be held in 2023

The last season of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup was held in 2020. It’s next edition of the tournament was to be played in 2022, but due to the Covid-19 impact & it’s circumstances the tournament has to be postponed for a year. Now the Women’s T20 World Cup will be played not in 2022, but in 2023.

In the ICC Executive meeting on Thursday, a big decision was taken on organizing the Women’s T20 World Cup. The ICC has now decided to take the World Cup to be held in South Africa in November 2022 to February 2023. This means that in 2022 only two major women’s tournaments will be played. 

According to the ICC, “This decision has been taken keeping in mind that there are no major women’s events scheduled in 2023, so the board has a view to giving players time to prepare better for the T20 World Cup.” Dates have changed. ” 

Three major sporting events will be held in 2022, including the Commonwealth Games. In fact, due to Coronavirus, the ICC has decided to postpone the women’s ODI World Cup to be held in 2021 for one more year. Due to this, the tournament which was scheduled to be held in February-March 2021 will now be played in 2022.

Afghanistan to Form Women’s National Team, 25 Players to Be Handed Central Contracts

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) are all set to form a women’s national team. The board on Thursday confirmed that they are planning to form a team and hand a group of 25 of the best women’s cricketers with a central contract.

“To form a national women’s team, ACB had organized a training camp for 40 female cricketers out of which 25 were selected and will be awarded central contracts very soon,” An ACB Official Said.
