Indian opener Rohit Sharma has said that he never thought that he would score the first double century of his ODI career against Australia in 2013 in Bengaluru.

India’s limited overs vice-captain Rohit is the only batsman to score three double centuries in ODI cricket.

Rohit during a conversation with star spinner Ravichandran Ashwin on Instagram said,

‘I never thought I would ever score a double century in ODIs. I wanted to bat well and the pitch was also very good.

Rohit scored 209 runs in 158 balls. He had 12 fours and 16 sixes during his innings.

India won by 57 runs against Australia in the 7th match of the series.

Rohit said that former batsman Yuvraj Singh told him that as an opener you have a chance to score big. He said,

‘I remember that Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) was telling me that this is a big opportunity for you. You just have to start batting.

Rohit Sharma wrote a special message to his wife Ritika

He told me that this is a good chance for you to score big. It was a good conversation before the match.

The 35-year-old opener said,

“When I went back to the pavilion after scoring a double century, someone told me that if you would have batted one over and you would have broken the record of Virender Sehwag.”

Rohit said,

‘There are a lot of expectations in the dressing room. There were three or four people who wanted me to score 10-15 runs. They may also include Yuvraj Singh and Shikhar Dhawan. ‘

Rohit is currently one of the best Batsman in limited overs cricket who can thrash any bowling lineup on his day.
