India and South Africa to play T20 series in August amidst Covid-19

India and South Africa have agreed to play three match T20 series in August 2020.

Cricket South Africa’s chief executive Jacques kallis gave this information through an online press conference.

Although the series is not a part of the Future Tour program.

This series was discussed in a conversation between BCCI President Sourav Ganguly and Cricket South Africa.

Currently, there is a situation of lockdown in both the countries due to coronavirus.

In such a situation, the consent of the government of both countries will be necessary for the series to be held.

If the South African team hosts India, it will also be beneficial for them.

Significantly, in March, South Africa’s team visited India to play a three match ODI series, whose first match was canceled due to rain and then the series was postponed due to coronavirus.

In such a situation, both teams can return to the field from this series that is scheduled to be held in August.

However, earlier the Sri Lanka Cricket Board had also requested to host India in July.

South Africa are scheduled to play two Tests and five T20 matches against the West Indies in July-August.

But at present it is expected that the series between SA and WI will be postponed for further.

The West Indies were also scheduled to tour England in June, but that series was also postponed for further.

If the West Indies team visits England in July, then South Africa will have a window available to host India in August.

The series against India is also very important for the economic condition of South Africa cricket.

If this series happens in August, it will be very beneficial for Cricket South Africa.

However, if this series is succeeded before 28 February 2021, then cricket South Africa will benefit financially, because their financial year ends on that day.
